airtel broadband downstream rate

mtnl + airtel
i recently got an airtel 256 kbps unlimited connection...what i noticed is my downstream rate in the modem's site is 2554 kbps n upstream is 573 kbps...in my mtnl connection when the downstream rate was 2048 kbps ( 2Mbps ) i actually got 2048 kbps speed..but how come i get 256 kbps on airtel.....i know it is according to the plan but some information about this would clearly be helpful...do all users of the same plan have the same downstream rate...is some tweak possible.....i use the beetel 110bx1 modem

no tweak possible...airtel limits the speed from server(a/c settings) but mtnl limits the speed by limiting the link speed....if u can use someone else account on ur airtel with higher speed you'll get that speed which is not true in case with mtnl...
