Airtel and Idea hike calling charges. Almost double now.

indian government needs to do what europe does. push retailers to publish the final price on products and services.

Airtel increased the tariffs on its mobile phone service. It was in The Economic Times of 24th Jan 2013.

They are not willing to tell to the newspaper correspondents about what the new tariffs are. Airtel's reps are making absurd statements to the newspapers like the quantum of increase is 20-25% in various circles because for prepaid customers some freebies have been reduced and for postpaid custmers free minutes in various plans have been reduced. The exact tariffs are some sort of top-secret.

For my Airtel prepaid connection call rate went up from 40 paise per minute to around 96 paise per minute. This is no 20-25% increase. This comes on the top of bad connectivity in my area since last month or so.

For postpaid connections they are no longer willing to tell on their website how many minutes are now free with which connection. Take a look:
