I believe the 50MBps plans should drop down to AT LEAST 5MBps post FUP. What the hell was going through the guy's head as he came up with this ridiculous post-FUP speed?

Fair Usage Policy (FUP) While the packages have been designed to give unlimited broadband experience to the subscribers, few customers may use excessive amount of the data transfer, causing traffic congestion on the network. In order not to impair the experience of other users, a Fair Usage Policy is applied. This helps to give the desired Internet usage experience to all users, especially since broadband is a shared bandwidth experience and the over-usage of a group of customers must not affect the rest of the users.Table below describes Fair Usage Policy by package with effect from 01- April -2012

There is an explanation to the diff in prices here. In Hyderabad, ACT is actually not present as itself. What ACT has done is, bought a Hyderabad based provider called Beam Telecom. Beam Telecom in Hyderabad was/is one of the best in the country if you ask me. I have used the same when I lived in Hyderabad, and this was before ACT bought over Beam Telecom. So even though the company Beam is owned wholly by ACT now, the pricing structure is independent.
I do agree that it would be a dream come true if ACT adopts the structure that Beam have had in place in Hyderabad, but then you always end up paying more for everything in Bangalore, don't you?
But let me tell you, having been a customer with Beam in Hyderabad, the internet speeds are to die for. Especially if you frequently exhaust the FUP.

I've been using ACT Broadband for around three weeks for now. It has been quite good so far. I get downloads at around 6 MBPS. But the plan that I have opted is the 25 MBPS. When the executive demonstrated it by visiting speedtest.com during installation, it showed around 33 MBPS. But never have I reached > 6 MBPS. Have never had a disconnect or anything like that. This has been better with the same price range of other broadband providers like Airtel and BSNL. I feel ACT is better of all in Bangalore... But I would love to have download speed at 25 MBPS because I am paying for that and not 6 MBPS. Have voiced my concern to ACT and hope to get a prompt response.
