ok MTNL delhi user we all have told to use DNS (Primary) 59.179.243.70 and Alternate DNS (Secondary) : 203.94.243.70 for it .. now i tried to check the speed not by some tool but by simple cmd cammands .
though people suggest using google DNS (8.8.8.8) and 8.8.8.4(often dead on mtnl net ) .
if u try pinging them both seperately u will see that both take equal time

C:>ping 8.8.8.8

Reply from 8.8.8.8: bytes=32 time=10ms TTL=54

based on above result one can see that it will definetely take lesser amount of time for MTNL DNS to response rather then of google dns which take like a visit USA of packets .. and if u consider a webpage there are numerous facebook and scripts which ask for such dns address .. so will it not be optimam to use mtnl DELHI DNS server itself ?

no. ping may be same but the time to resolve the name and throwit back is crappy with mtnl. not to mention they block websites via dns at times. at times their dns just drops packets resulting in pages beeing loaded half !. time aint everything. consistency is !!

@Kickass: then how to know what's the best dns server . Less ping time is there on MTNL dnses and Google dns routes the traffic through our ISP's Dns only. Then how google dns is better than MTNL ones?? Please provide insight!!

the traffic may go through ur isp's server dats not a prob. whn mtnl wants to block a site via dns its dns server will not give u the ip adress of the site and hence it wont load. whereas google will give u the ip and the site will load. also there are multiple requests for diff stuff on a single page. mtnl at times drops the request packet resulting in half the page loaded. the best dns for any1 to use is 8.8.4.4
i have tried a lot of others ahn they are nto good. just stick to 8.8.4.4. don't waste ur time experimenting

^ that's for MTNL Delhi. It will be different for Mumbai.

your first argument may seem valid (i wud still like a proof for that ) but on blocking issue i want to add that the newly blocked website wud stand blocked even if u using google DNS .. VPN(lot of them is free on internet )is the only sure shot way to pass them

yes mtnl uses diff ways with diff websites. not sure whose brain is that lolz
