Aadhaar is mandatory for opening a new bank account?

I've been contemplating on getting a new bank account (have had one with Axis for years and I'm not happy with them anymore) ~ and it looks like I need an Aadhaar card to begin my search.

I tried Kotak, Yesbank and ICICI so far... guess I'll just have to wait out the supreme court's decision?

Sigh.
 
Wait for a few weeks. Aadhaar ruling is expected before court vacations. Should be out by May end. High probability.
