Hello All,
Could you advise a good router compatible with ACT Fibrenet having parental control features?
  1. Wireless router: I need to connect multiple devices at home - including Windows PC/Laptop, android phones, blackberry devices, Apple ipad, , PSP and smartTV. So it needs to be a WIRELESS router
  2. Parental Control at Router Level: I want to protect children from wandering to pornographic, malicious, hacking, phishing sites. This control should be enabled at router level so that it applies to all devices connected to the router. It would be ideal if it is possible different level of parental control filtering for adults and children
  3. Ability to control access to the internet - Feature to turn on/off access to internet from different devices. e.g. block access to internet for children's ipad from 10PM to 6AM
  4. Good range: Able to provide wireless signals upto 2 floors of my house (if possible)
Many Thanks for your advice 🙂

try Asus RT-n66u it has all the features that you want and is also compatible with ACT fibernet
blocking pornographic, malicious, hacking, sites can be done with any router
step1: just visit Norton ConnectSafe
step 2: agree the terms and conditions and select the 3rd option in the following page
step 3: log in to your router typically the login page will appear if you type 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.1 for asus rt-ac66u (if you dont get the login page open cmd in windows and type ipconfig ..if linux user ifconfig in command line, the make a note of default gateway and type the same in the address bar of your browser) enter your router username and password (typically username is admin and password is admin)<varies by the router you purchase>
step 3:under wan>>see internet connection>>wan dns>>Connect to DNS Server automatically>>change to no. and set your norton dns and you are done.
step 4: for (asus rtn66u router only) under parental control>> time management>> set the time that your children should use internet and done
block access to internet for children's ipad from 10PM to 6AM

hope this helps you

Hi there Matt, are you using this setup now? I have tried OpenDNS with ACT fibrenet but it does not work as it doesn't accept 3rd party DNS entries. So am assuming that Norton doesn't work either?
