Many people have commented on TechWhack that they are excitingly waiting for this funky little car from the Maruti’s stable. Well, so are we. In fact, this is the first car in the sub 5-lakh segment that has excited us ever since the Daewoo Matiz disappeared from the scene. While, we still wait for the Chevrolet to bring in Spark… We have on our hands: Maruti Suzuki Swift!Swift is different. It is different in a nice way. It does not look like your normal Suzuki’s found in India. Compare Maruti Alto to Suzuki Swift and you will know what a radical change we are looking at. It was designed to match the attitude of where Suzuki excel, designing super bikes. It looks awesome and it is expected to be awesome as well.It comes with the experience of Suzuki in the Junior World Rally Championship where they are the reigning champions. It combines the experience of Suzuki as a bike maker, compact carmaker, and a racing champ. Its origin is from the Concept vehicle codenamed Concept S that was first unveiled at Paris Motor Show, 2002. Concept S evolved into Concept S2, which was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, 2003. Suzuki Swift is quite close to what Concept S2 looked like.It comes with Suzuki’s massive experience in making excellent compact cars combined with cutting-edge technological features. It would be one of the most important launches as a car manufacturer for Maruti in India. In fact, many of the Indian engineers were involved in the design and development of this international car model.A total of 21 engineers from the Indian unit worked at Suzuki developing the car. They tested it in Indian conditions for around 2 years and now they are ready to unleash in the Indian market. It combines the expertise of Suzuki’s expertise in providing fuel efficiency and reliability with style. The car has also received four-star rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP).Its prime competitors are Hyundai Getz, which has received a lukewarm response in the Indian market. And the company would be hoping for existing Zen and Alto customers to think about upgrading to Swift as it arrives on the Indian roads this month.
