Connecting A Laptop

Hi, I am having Hathway connection. I use the USB connection to connect the modem to my computer (desktop). I own a laptop too and yesterday, I thought of connecting my laptop to the modem through ethernet.. I could not connect it as it says "Aquring network address" for a long time and finally gave up saying "It has limited or no connection".I do not know what to do next, please let me know your valuable suggestions.Thanks,Saravanan.K

u have to set network configuration...fron network connections...
IP address
Subnet Mask
DNS
Gateway add.
if requied.. software....
