'destination net unreachable' and 'general failure' when pinging

Hi,so since morning today i noticed my internet was not working properly. I pinged my ip and noticed these errors:

'destination net unreachable'
'general failure'

Also got a few request timed outs.

Due to the errors i kept losing the connection to the net at regular intervals and then it would start working again,then again same error would occur for some minutes and then again it would work fine for sometime and so on.This has continued since morning.

What are these errors ? How to fix them ?

I'm using airtel broadband via wifi.

You didn't mention whether it's a public static ip you got or talking about your local lan ip you pinged, but assuming the latter -

These errors happen when either your wifi is dropping in between for a minute or two before getting reconnecting automatically or there is local ip address conflict means which happens when sometime router allocates multiple devices a same ip.

Routers drop wifi due to either bugs in firmware or when there is high noise on a particular channel they are currently broadcasting on. Check for this. Also try assigning your device a static local ip to see if it helps.
