Option for ‘other’ in JNU poll forms

Jawaharlal Nehru University has introduced a “third gender” option in the nomination forms for student union elections, scheduled for September 12.

In a notification yesterday, the JNU students’ union election committee said: “The committee is going to introduce the option of third gender as ‘other’ in the nomination form of the JNUSU elections 2014-15.”

The Supreme Court had acknowledged transgenders as the “third gender” earlier this year.

Delhi University too has introduced the third gender option in its application forms for postgraduate courses.

Let's hope government websites are also update with similar options.

These are rumors right now. News reports say that he has some conditions before he accepts the position.

JNU Students Union Opposed to any Move to Appoint Subramanian Swamy as Vice Chancellor

Meanwhile, Mr Swamy in a tweet today suggested setting up of an anti-narcotics bureau office in the JNU campus supposedly to arrest naxals and jehadis.

Actually he is older then the cut off age. He can become a chancellor though, which is

A toothless position like president of India.

so vice chancellor has more powers than chancellor? i really have no idea how university administrations work.

Yeah, chancellor is just a ceremonial figurehead. The real powers lie with vc only.

Aren't governers of states/UT's by default chancellor's of all universities in their respective states/UT's?

Afzal Guru event: Anti-India slogans at JNU campus; ‘disciplinary’ enquiry ordered

JNU administration on Wednesday ordered a “disciplinary” enquiry into holding of an event on campus against the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru despite cancellation of permission saying any talk about country’s disintegration cannot be “national”.
The university’s move came in wake of protests by members of ABVP outside the VC office demanding expulsion of students who “misled” the university about nature of the event.
