Port in to vodafone rejected

I have a idea prepaid no., i tried porting into vodafone the porting request was rejected on account of number being activated for less than 90 days(i recently converted from postpaid to prepaid which has made my connection a new one). Now i have a vodafone sim which is useless i talked to store guy who said to discard it. I wanted to know if i can keep the sim for future porting request as i am still interested in porting into vodafone once the 90 day period gets completed.

yes you can retain the SIM and ask them to use it when you place the request next time.
but this would not give you a waiver from PORTING CHARGES, as the request was processed already.

i am fine with that i just don't want to throw the sim away also the store guy told me it would expire is that the case here?

Drill a Hole in that SIM and use it in Keychain

Will keep it for now will try after 2 months if it proves useless then maybe it use it in keychain. thanks for help.
