IP/MAc binding - does it really exist?

I changed my ip address (incremented it by 1) and did not change the MAC address.Tried logging in using regular Sify BBand client and it worked!! So are they really binding it at all? Supposedly we had to call them for this to work, but I sure as hell didn't.

yes it is there.

Yeah it does exist. Maybe the authentication software at Sify's end made a mistake when you incremenetd the ip by 1.

hmm.... wonder. Maybe my router (I connect thru a wifi router) is not amenable to their little games eh? The ip the bband client collects is of the comp (192.168.1.100), while the actual IP assigned by Sify is in the router and that is what I incremented.
