Hello,
I am using BSNL Broadband for a couple of years now and except for occasional 'server' ( as the staff calls them ), i have had a smooth ride. Unfortunately it all changed last week, when i started seeing this problem of connectivity drop. The connection stays good for 10 mins, drops for 3 mins and comes back for another cycle of 10+3 minutes. I thought the issue may disappear by itself, but now after one week it has been really annoying and is hampering productivity.
A call to BSNL Customer care did not yield much except for 'will check' comment.
I have searched various other threads on this forum and most of them discuss about a 'bad line'. I tried the tricks provided there but the issue doesnt seem similar, as i get good SNR and Attenuation no.s as shown below:
Statistics -- ADSL
Mode: ADSL2+ Line Coding: Trellis On Status: No Defect Link Power State: L0 Downstream Upstream SNR Margin (dB): 34.5 23.5 Attenuation (dB): 23.0 8.2 Output Power (dBm): 12.4 25.6 Attainable Rate (Kbps): 19012 584 Rate (Kbps): 2046 506 MSGc (number of bytes in overhead channel message): 61 81 B (number of bytes in Mux Data Frame): 62 13 M (number of Mux Data Frames in FEC Data Frame): 1 16 T (Mux Data Frames over sync bytes): 1 1 R (number of check bytes in FEC Data Frame): 16 16 S (ratio of FEC over PMD Data Frame length): 0.9693 13.1507 L (number of bits in PMD Data Frame): 652 146 D (interleaver depth): 64 4 Delay (msec): 15 13
I have checked these during the connectivity and disconnection periods, and they don't change much.
Only thing that changes in two senarios is the output of Diagnostics:
During Connection , most of the Connection test as labeled PASS, while during the period of Disconnection, they are FAIL.
I have checked my Splitter settings and they seem just fine.
Also, during the Disconnection interval, all the four LEDs, PWR, INET, DSL and WLAN become standstill, that is, it doesnt show that conenction is lost.

Can you borrow another modem & check? It might be the modem firmware.

Also check someone near to your place. See if they are also experiencing the same issue.
