I have a connection from a local ISP which uses MTS connection, it uses 24Online billing system and provided me a RJ45 Cable with static IP, subnet mask, default gateway and primary dns ip, username and password.
I have a
DSL-2730U Wireless N 150 ADSL2+ 4-Port Router - D-Link
I want to have wifi in my house using this connection.
Now when i just put the uplink RJ45 to lan1 and another cable to connect my pc and the router on lan2 of the router, i can browse the internet from my pc but can't browse it from the wifi.
I'm a noob on networking and searched through the forum and google but still can't find any solution. If someone could enlighten me on this, that would be appreciated. Thank you.

Kaushik, this is happening because you have an ADSL router. The router will work like a network hub for lan connections but the wifi only gets picked up from the ADSL connection.
IMO you will need a separate Wifi router to share your internet connection. Since you seem to like D-Link, try http://www.dlink.co.in/products/?pid=544
This one is fairly cheap. I purchased one from Hathway which goes with my internet connection (Docsis 3.0) and they sold it to me for Rs 1,000 - so it is not very expensive either. It's available on Flipkart for a Rs 100 more. AmitT, in my hostel I have used wifi with this router. The difference is there's no static ip configuration for the pc, i just plug the RJ45 in and i can use internet both via Lan and WiFi.
