Here is an advice for new subscribers which can save you the trauma of being ripped-off by 3G postpaid service providers royally for a 4-figure sum.
Ascertain the 3G post-paid provider's monthly billing cycle window.
This is usually between the 4th & 8th of every month in the case of Tata DoCoMo (TDCM).
And sign up for your connection at around the same time.
The devil in the detail is the seemingly innocuous practice of pro-rata billing imported into Bharat from the unscrupulous west. :greedydollars: :arrogant:
Here's how it goes...
Let's say you sign up for a 3G Dongle 450BC TDCM post-paid 2 GB limited connection on the 20th of this month with a billing date of 5th of next month.
Taking care to not exceed 2 GB by the 5th of the following month will be of no use in preventing you being charged for extra usage at in addition to the rental.
The 2 GB data limit is proportionately decreased to 1 GB for a pro-rata billing period of 15 days.
So even if you take care to just touch 1.8 GB, you will be billed a whopping Rs 1250/= (Rs 450 rental + Rs 800 for 800 MB extra usage!!! :Shave: ).
So TDCM NEVER gives 2 GB for Rs 450 in the subscriber's very first month .
This is the way TDCM welcomed a new subscriber like me. 😛issed-off:
I got the uncanny feeling that this was akin to a visitor being ripped off by scammers in a new town. 😈 :vampire:

Umm. Both data and tariff are calculated on a pro-rata basis if your billing cycle doesn't start the day your connection is activated.
