Right time to invest in gold?

If you take any long term horizon (5 years or above) in the past 15 years, almost always gold has had a positive net return. Comparing a 3 week return on the back of a massive fall is pointless. If I had bought gold 5 years back, even after the recent fall, I would still be in a pretty decent position. And you can always buy Gold ETF options if you want to limit your downside.
 
42 billion dollars was the gold import by India in firsrt 10 months of 2012-13 don't you think we are creating a unnecessary demand resulting in increased prices?besides why do we need a deficit because of some item which is not important for the ecomony?

Yes, and it directly affects the economy, increases deficit and results in inflation. Just read the economic survey 2012-13, they have mentioned this thing so many times.
Had India been rich in gold resources, people would have bought gold from within the country, we would have exported it as well and would've been richhh 🙂 Wishful thinking
