Dual boot LM & W7 - Need help on updating LM

I have Linux Mint installed along with windows 7 as dual boot.Linux mint is the primary , ie first partition is for LM. Current LM version is 12 , i want to update it or if possible even move to ubuntu. But really love cinnamon though. Started trying , then left it like that . But again , want to give more time to Linux Mint.So how to i upgrade my current LM to latest version ?

Err..using Software Update option in your distro? Or are you asking something else?

I too have been wanting to upgrade my Ubuntu but am scared it is going to screw my grub. Don't have too much time to fix everything.

I heard that main version of LM should be installed using CD or something , and cant be upgraded within the OS. Yup , I too dont want to screw the grub.also is it possible to move from LM to ubuntu ? without disturbing the W7 and other partitions ?

^Yes. Download http://download.cnet.com/MiniTool-Partition-Wizard-Home-Edition/3000-2094_4-10962200.html. rebuild MBR . Reboot into windows, run the wizard and delete the Linux partition. Then install ubuntu.

Read this on the Ubuntu forums long ago, should work. Although, there might be more efficient ways of doing the same.
