There's even better option for root users.
Mother of All AD-BLOCKING, Blocking of Malware/Spyware/Bloatware
This is a Host Block file which blocks lots of crap giving URL's and if you are the one who doesn't wants a antivirus but still want to be
little concerned about the malware etc etc, this is the way to go.
Using it on 3 Android devices, all three rooted, and never had issues till now.

Host file block will not slow down the phone as it's not an antivrus

it doesn't slows the device or the connectivity.
It might also help in Nullifying a spyware URL, which you already have in cookies or apk, as it would block it, if its reported and included.
my many month experience with this hosts files has been great...
