Just came back from a quick trip to this place.

Google Navigation helped me to reach Mathura just fine from Gurgaon but reaching the temple itself was a pain in the ass.

Most of the routes were blocked as they have been converted into One Ways to manage traffic. So, had to rely upon local folks to get the directions.

So, most annoying thing on the trip? The road between Sohna and Palwal. 20KM long road had like 50 speed breakers. All of then unmarked. 80% of them badly shaped which required me to tackle them diagonally.

Most amusing thing on the trip? As soon as we entered the temple, a bunch of pandits literally attacked us... Give us the prasad and donations you want to make and we would get it processed at the temple and you can collect them after 15 minutes.

And he went on to warn me to keep an eye on my wallet and phone etc. because of the pickpockets.

Taking photo inside temple is not allowed. Tons of folks were doing so. I tried doing it myself. One of the head pandit noticed it while he was handling the donations etc. And forgot everything and started yelling at me. 😕

I am so going to hell for this:

Use your new knowledge to improve it using Google Maps Maker! 😛

lol. the diversions are definitely not permanent. there were just random boards placed on different routes causing all the confusion. u know how good i am with directions? it took me 30 minutes to find the parking where i parked my car. i actually had to get a local boy to help me out in locating my car. that's how good i am with directions.

I had been to this temple when I visited Delhi. I went through local travels and booked the tickets for the whole trip. Trip includes Agra fort, mathura vrindavan, taj mahal. Trip was awsome but the sad part about this temple is that pandits try to rip you off. As soon as you enter this temple pandits will approach you and start asking for donations. Also while going back to Delhi on highway when bus stopped for dinner we were charged triple the amount for food then the rates mentioned in the menu. Though we paid as per the rates mentioned in the menu but had to argue a lot.

righto. that's something pretty common here in north india at least. if you book a trip using a bus service. they would stop at a specific dhaba. there is some sort of a collaboration between the two parties and customers are charged much higher rates. customers have no choice as they cannot go to another dhaba to have food. this has happened to me in the past. on a trip to McLeod Ganj. shitty food. obscene charges. even when i was ready to pay the crappy prices, the food i got was not even edible. i am not sure if tourist bus operators do something similar down south 😕

Happens in the south too. But food is edible and rates are usually 5Rs above MRP.

I have also visited ther once but I am sorry wont be going again, too much pandits there and they will literally stick to you.

This is exactly the same problem in lot of temples around the country, which I have visited. Dwarka, Somnath & Kali Temple(Kolkata)! These pundits come to you as hungry wolfs and take whatever money you have.

One of the pundits in Kali temple told me "1001 Rupayaa do warna bhagwan gusaa ho jaayenge"

Awsome pics man.Can anyone please tell me why cant i see these pics from tapatalk?

yeap. the place has way too many pandits. most of them were just sitting idle chewing paan. others were busy talking on their touchscreen smartphones. this is basically a typical scene at any hindu temple.

All the religious places have become so crowded these days. I was born in Mathura and back in the 90s you could just walk into Krishna Janmabhumi or Bihari Ji's temple without worrying about the crowd. As for Pandits, just tell them "Vrindavan ke heey hain" as soon as soon as they approach you. Have a confident look on your face as if you are familiar with the place and no one will bother you with donations etc.

Never imagined you would be so religeous

Lol. Mom wanted to go because of some dream she had!
