Is it safe to uninstall Unity after installing Lubuntu on Ubuntu?

so i install ubuntu on an old laptop and the user experience was painfully slow.

so i installed lubuntu desktop on it and it turns out to be much better.

now is it safe to uninstall the default windows manager that comes with ubuntu?

Offtopic:I have settled with Linux Mint with Cinnamon UI
 
Unless you are running out of space, you better leave it as it is. I have had problems after uninstalling default x manager(long back... Not sure if they handle it well now)
 
this laptop has a 40GB HDD 😀 and has a celeron processor. i am leaving it like this considering removing it would probably just save me 200-300MB of space 😀
