Q. How does this licensing policy affect products such as Microsoft Windows XP Professional?
A. Microsoft Windows XP Professional and Microsoft Windows XP Home are not affected by this policy as they are licensed per installation and not per processor. Windows XP Professional can support up to two processors regardless of the number of cores on the processor. Microsoft Windows XP Home supports one processor.

That’s similar to the way Windows XP works today - if have a dual-CPU machine, you need to install XP Professional to use both CPUs.

Tks for tht article mate.It seems tht winXP pro uses both processors as suggested by my frnds.But i feel none of the OS is still designed for dual processors.I hope vista is designed to use both processors efficiently...

they are actually taking the shortcut by merging two dual core to form a quad core. so it's not a true quad core in reality. something like that. intel's original dual core were also not technically dual core. amd does it the correct way. however, core 2 duo are still kicking their ass.
