- Will the Airtel 4G be compatible or be used with Galalxy S3 LTE version or the newly launched iPhone 5 ?- Do the frequency bands of Airtel 4G match the ones supported by these devices ?- And yes, 4G does not do voice yet.- Any other device Phone or Tablet compatible with Airtel 4G ?Thoughts ?Thanks,Madhan.

they have two gsm models which cover a lot of frequencies. so i would imagine that it should be compatible once the government regulations allow voice over lte. looks like not!

GSM model A1428*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 4 and 17)
CDMA model A1429*: CDMA EV-DO Rev. A and Rev. B (800, 1900, 2100 MHz); UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5, 13, 25)
GSM model A1429*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5)

i have no idea what indian operators are using. web searches are confusing to me.

I don't think so.Airtel uses the 2300 TDD band whereas most of the 4G phones including the iPhone 5 use the FDD 2100 Mhz band.

No. But you can use 4G services through wifi. Actual 4G services which will be used on S3 or iPhone 5 is yet to be launched. The 700 MHz bid is expected to happen next year and services will take another one year to reach at us.

The Airtel CPE specs (Huawei B593) seem to be LTE 700/1700 (dont know which "bands" they are) so could it be possible for Airtel to deliver 4G over LTE 700/1700 and also 2300 TDD that @manu1991 you state? Also the Airtel dongle (Huawei E392) seems to be LTE DD800/900/1800/2100/2600 mhz, so I doubt it's 2300 TDD as you say?

engadget etc. do not really have many sources in india to verify such information. from what i have seen, their india related posts are based on newspaper articles which can and are usually inaccurate about such details. shame that airtel customer care would also have little idea about this specific information.
