Kapil Sibal: Kids mostly watch porn on the internet

I had to start a brand new section for this. Was long overdue.

I might be wrong but from what I see, kids spend a lot of time on social networking services. Porn is not something you have the freedom to watch when you are a kid and with parents usually watching you over your shoulders.

Maybe back in the 90s. Or early 2000s. Not today.

"What kids see on the internet is mostly pornography and that is dangerous. The internet is being used as a platform for misinformation, selling spurious drugs and for terrorist activities. It is a great medium but being misused to bring about disaffection among people," Sibal said.

But seriously, we need to get his arse out of the office before he ****s up anything more, BJP or anyone else isn't even going to bother looking at the ridiculous clauses and laws Congress is making regarding the internet, not many people vote based on how good are govt policies regarding freedom on internet in India 😕

Also, ANY damn medium of communication can be used for terrorism, Internet isn't something special - terrorists can use satellite phones to communicate if they so desire, and they probably already do. Same for drugs - you can't prevent these things from happening, even if they block half of internet in India those who want to watch porn will simply get a VPN, kids can just use their parent's credit cards (since obviously, these parents were careless enough to not have an eye on what the **** their kid is doing on internet all day/night). People have this tendency of breaking law, it's the sort of thrill that they are doing something illegal or something they are not supposed to do, that's exactly why kids don't tend to listen to their parents.

TL;DR - You can force a speed limit on cars, but you can't prevent cars from speeding over the limit. Quit putting restrictions and let the people who use Internet for legit things use it properly, the bad side of internet will continue even if you block it.

Kids necessarily don't just watch porn. As right pointed out by many here, it's the social media sites (Read FB) they are hooked on to most of the time. That, to me is more dangerous than even porn. Cases of cyber bullying, kids getting depressions, and even addictive of the web are the real issues. Some sort of moderation on what kids do on the web is certainly the demand of the day. I use a free software called Qustodio. Helps me keep track of what my kids are up to on the web 🙂
