Devices connecting to WLAN take up vague IP addrs

Folks, posting this query after being unable to crack this even after going thru various posts in the forum.Setup is: MTNL Triband >> MTNL ADSL Modem >>> Linksys Wireless Router >>> Laptop on LAN link to LinksysMTNL ADSL 192.168.1.1Linksys router IP is 10.10.0.1 and is DHCP server for range 10.10.0.2 to 10.10.0.50Laptop takes IP automatically 10.10.0.2 and connects to Internet without any problem.IPAD new, Blackberry devices, other laptop all see SSID linksys and connect to it on authentication.However are unable to take a proper IP address and connect.IPAD show IP addr as 169.254.105.191 and subnet mask as 255.255.0.0Blackberry devices do not connect.Where is the issue? Is it because MTNL modem is also DHCP server and NAT enabled?Any solution? Pointer to a previous post also welcome.Cheers
 
Well, an IP such as 169.254.105.191 is equivalent to no IP or a blank IP. Could be an issue with the DHCP server like you said, if that's the case you could try assigning it an IP manually and see if it works. Also you should check if mac bind has been enabled for devices connecting wirelessly.
 
The odd part is that randomly at times the setup works without any changes and each of the device on the WLAN takes on an IP addr from the 10.10.0.* series and the router admin pages also report the same. Should I restore factory defaults on the router and set it up again?
 
Well if you are comfortable with it, then yes. Don't make your Linksys router a DHCP host this time, leave it to the MTNL router to assign IP addresses, the linksys router should only act as a wireless broadcast.
