RIM Patent Shows CAPTCHAs to Access Device While In Driving - N4BB

Research in Motion has been granted yet another patent, this one to keep users from texting and driving, sort of. The patent would make users have to enter a CAPTCHA code to access the phone while it was in motion. At a certain speed, the phone locks and to unlock it you’d have to do one of a series of things, among those were math questions, identifying the object in the image and others.

lol.

I wonder if someone will get hurt while driving on trying to solve the math question 😀

well the fact remains, if the setting is user configurable, users would not configure it. and if it is automated and cannot be disabled, users would not get it in the first place. stopping people from using phones while driving is not a technological problem. it is a self control problem.

It might have been ok to try & have it as a block to stop users from accidentally dialing or something. Instead of a security lock, you can have a simple captcha.
