So after a lot of discussions and big statements finally Mr. Shashi Tharoor (too) has accepted his defeat and is back to square one. Probably this is another lesson for all walkers of diplomatic enclaves that you don't have to lick only a couple of asses but have to lick all of them - those big brothers sitting in security council as permanent members with veto. What a big lie against basic charter of UN - any one of them can kick plenty of asses - even if proposals are humane, sound and otherwise good.-- RKS

I'm not sure its as simple as that.Have there been any UN leaders from the said veto countries themselves ?Right...isn't it more a question of how little said rep pisses off other members.Which really brings into question how effective the UN as an intl. body itself can be.

That is the whole problem. Those big brothers never ever take responsibility to sit on the top chair and keep pissing on all affairs as per their whims and fancies. What a great joke if you refer the original 1945 charter of League Of Nations which led to UN finally. On the record Shashi has not expressed any grudge against the ngative voter from veto group but for off the record version you can take him in a corner of the hotel lobby where he gave the no grudge speech and hear him swearing big brothers like any thing. This is what is the reality of walkers of diplomatic enclaves.-- RKS
