Facing this issue since 27th night, Internet was not working too well.. only Google would open.. facing slight issues still.. anyone else???Also, is anyone facing problems with MTNL Wi-fi on their smartphones?? I have an Android and the Wi-fi connection seems to stop working every few minutes UNTIL I switch the Wi-fi button OFF and again ON on my phone... Anyone knows why this happens???Also, does anyone know why do I frequently keep getting a yellow pop-up next to my PC clock saying 'There is an IP address conflict on the system' ???? It never used to happen before! I have a Wi-fi modem...

Hi I was facing same issue. You would be able to open sites within Google Data Center and those which are in IP Range of 74.125.*.* Range i,e, Google.co.in (Google.com if you are lucky but try google.com/ncr -> actual Google site otherwise it auto-selects India server), Gmail, G+, G Drive etc. Along with MTNL Sites such as mtnl.net.in etc. Here is the solutions I found to browse all sites. In your Routers DNS Settings,1. If you are using MTNL Provided DNS then only MTNL Sites will open -> Manually override them with OpenDNS [208.67.222.222 & 208.67.222.220],2. If you are using Google DNS then only MTNL Sites will open -> Manually override them with OpenDNS [208.67.222.222 & 208.67.222.220],3. If you are using OpenDNS then only not to worry you are already browsing everything 😉I contacted my friend working in MTNL Tech Dept and the problem is with MTNL's DNS routing or BGP (Geek stuff for those who understands it).

Can you guys please explain what is MTNL dns, Google dns and Open dns? And what are the risks of changing the default dns settings of MTNL?

All this seems to have happened after the maintenance at Prabhadevi https://broadband.forum/mtnl-broadband/48167-mtnl-broadband-service-alerts-mtnl/4/ post # 120
There is no risk involved except some ignorant MTNL joker seeing it on your machine & asking ‘Yeh kya hai’. To that you can tell him that you have been told by a DGM at Prabhadevi exchange that its ok to use any DNS setting. (Actually I was told so many years ago) lol
See OpenDNS - Cloud Internet Security and DNS or https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/ for more info
Open DNS
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
208.67.220.222
208.67.222.220
Google DNS
8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
MTNL DNS
Mumbai
59.185.3.12 (I use this one & is not widely know yet)
59.185.3.10 (I use this one & is not widely know yet) along with Open DNS
203.94.227.70
Delhi
203.94.243.70
59.185.0.23
59.185.0.50

Comodo DNS
156.154.70.22
156.154.71.22

Infact I changed today, the DNS settings on my friends laptop frm 'automatic' to open DNS & it worked just fine

For those who want to receive MTNL alerts (apart from other ads) 🙂 goto http://mtnlmumbai.in/ & use the option at the bottom right side

Thanks! So I must just change it in Network Connection Properties or somewhere else too?

Btw, which one is better: GoogleDNS or OpenDNS?? It seems MTNL is better than OpenDNS, check out my test results, there's a fight between MTNL and GoogleDNS:

And now, MTNL wins the battle in another test:

I'm confused!!!

Wow, MTNL is working nicely right now, got an A:

MTNL Triband seems to have just collapsed. The guys, their own or outsourced, more likely the outsourced seem to have screwed it up.DNS settings don't help.Amazing the boards are so boring and insipid

I called 1504 and told them about thisThey replied they're having some server issues which should be fixed by tomorrow morning, and it's mumbai wide.. And only URL affiliated to Google seem to open... youtube, gmail, google etc.

Check out my post #6 above where I mention the DNS settings I use. Try those.

Hey nevillek, these results doesn't give you actual overview; because you are using MTNL ISP and same DNS so its obvious that it would respond to your query in less time since hosted on same infra. But actual test should be done for websites that you frequently use using various DNS Combinations and then decide what to do.

Personally I would recommend this configuration (Keep the sequence same)
8.8.8.8
208.67.222.222
156.154.70.22
8.8.4.4
208.67.220.220
156.154.71.22

Never ever use MTNL DNS since its too laggy and sometime doesn't open sites like (TBP etc)

I was already using Open DNS, it doesn't fix the issue, many sites rarely load and now streaming youtube videos also takes ages!
