Tablet PC as Car GPS?

Is it a good idea to use a low end tablet pc as a car GPS device?.

yes why not. I use a Onda VP90 which is a Windows CE based GPS device. got it for 40$ in a fire sale.

as long as you can drive with one hand and handle the tablet with another? get a good car dock and a smartphone can work as a decent navigation device.

eh? you can dock the tablet too. once you set the route, you don't really need to handle anything. not even look at the tablet since there is voice guided navigation.

AFAIK, Ainol Paladin doesn't have a GPS.

A smartphone is better than a tablet and almost all the smartphones have offline maps and it is something which provides better utility as you will keep your tablet only in car.

Local Maruti showrooms are quoting 9K for GPS (MMI I think). Its actually for a relative who is looking to do it for a cheaper price.

Android offers voice based navigation in India? I guess its only maps, not navigation which is free...

if you have root access, you can get voice guided navigation even in India.
