The latest service provider to have found its head under TRAI's axe for having allegedly rejected several mobile number porting requests by their subscribers in their Mumbai circle is Loop Mobiles (India) Ltd. and the TRAI seem to be in no mood for going soft on them. A Times of India report confirms that miffed with Loop Mobiles (India) Ltd. rejecting MNP requests, TRAI have approached a Delhi court and have placed a request with Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Vinod Yadav to summon and prosecute Loop Mobiles and its top officials. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has not been the one to let it pass, since even in the past, they came down heavily on donor operators, rejecting MNP requests sent by their subscribers, citing it as illegal.

The story continues 🙂
[h=1]TRAI Pulls Up Three Mobile Operators Over MNP Irregularities[/h]The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has pulled up telecom operators Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular, and Loop Mobiles for allegedly violating mobile number portability (MNP) regulations, and issued a summons to their officials via a Delhi court. Apparently, these three operators have not abided by the norms, and have rejected MNP requests from subscribers in various circles including Mumbai, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. The companies have also not provided complete information, as sought by TRAI, about porting requests rejected by them.

Mobile subscribers were empowered by TRAI last year by introducing the MNP provision, allowing them to switch to any mobile operator while retaining their old number. This initiative was done with the motive of keeping the operators on their heels to provide better service than their competitors, while protecting subscriber interests. However, not all operators have been very compliant with the MNP services and there have been some irregularities reported regarding the same.
