Bharti Airtel, Vodafone suggest Trai to Remove Cap on mobile tariffs !!

Well if this is deregulated, then whats the use of TRAI after all 😛
 
Indian govt has BSNL/MTNL to really bring low price to the market if the others over charge .Since the Govt have collected region wise liecence fees, it is justified to let them fix a price what the market can bear.For 1.5 billion population,we have lot of GSM/CDMA players now. Collution and market fixing is the problem.it is usually done with minister in charge /BSNL/TRAI nexus only.They should give 4G liecence competitive on all India basis. that means All India- One price.Already I have Reliance GSM incoming free in home region.outgoing same anywhere in India(roaming or no roaming 50p/min).sms same price roaming or not 0.50p.It is because Govt comapnies like mTNL/BSNL are shoddy in customer handling (thanks to their union),customers are forced to go to Voda ,Airtel etc. Technology wise MTNL/BSNL are almost same as private players.
 
The moment they choose to increase prices, public will start moving backwards in time - slowly people will start using PCOs, despite having mobile phones. They will prefer Wifi hotspots over Data plans. The rule that applies for Softwares & stuff, applies to every product/service......its the basic thing we learnt in Economics! They will make good margins, which will be offset against falling usage, ultimately the ARPU remaining same or worsening!
 
PCOs have pretty much disappeared from the major cities. It is hard to find a shop that lets you make call for a charge. And you can be sure that mobile calls would still be cheaper than using a PCO booth.
 

But do u believe that even if prices are de-regulated, then the call charges will still stay below say Re.1 for 3 mins or Rs.2 for 3 minutes? I think the PCOs (wherever they are) still have the standard rates of Re.1 per 3 minutes. So if they have disappeared, people might start setting up booths again! 😀
