Guys, If I have opted for Partial DND in a particular category, will I receive both calls and SMS from the providers? As per the Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Portal Partially Blocked Category means stoppage of all commercial Calls/SMS except SMS from one of the opted preferences.

The problem is I have been getting a lot of calls from HDFC Bank Credit Card department, minimum 2 times a week and on one week back to back 5 consecutive days asking me to sign up for their credit card, I have denied them repeatedly but the calls keep coming. I find this very disturbing and infuriating when I am in the midst of my work, so I wrote an email to the corporate care telling them to lodge a complaint because I should not be getting these calls as I am already enrolled for Partially Blocked Category. Here is the response I got from them:

Dear Mr.Nath,

from what i know you turn on both sms and calls. there is no selective blocking

----------

Fully Blocked Category- stoppage of all commercial Calls/SMS
Partially Blocked Category- stoppage of all commercial Calls/SMS except SMS from one of the opted preferences

Looks like I heard wrong!

Well, as the TRAI website describes it, that is not the case, and also that SHOULD NOT be the case. For example, You have a bank account, you need the sms alerts regarding debits and credits and weekly balance status, so you need to allow the smses. This gives the bank the right to send you an sms to opt for its credit card, but an sms isn't much of a bother as a call is. In my case I cannot ignore a call because even though the number might not be known to me it could be urgent, so i need to attend it, but too much of it really irritating. Hope that explains. So TRAI says:

Partially Blocked Category- stoppage of all commercial Calls/SMS except SMS from one of the opted preferences.

I don't think you need to allow bank messages in dnd to receive updates about your account. I receive messages regarding my account even though I have all categories blocked.
