Just brought a MTNL Dolphin prepaid SIM card. Almost everyday I get a couple of marketing ADs SMS messages from MTNL regarding their services & other promotional offers. They are named like MM-12345 etc etc. Now I could do without them, is there any simple way to stop/block these messages.

its simple. Get your number listed in DND ( Don not Disturb) registry.

To do so . . Dial 1909 or SMS to 1909 with keywords 'START DND' for registration into DND registry.

PS: Stupid govt websites. www.ndncregistry.gov.in/ is down.

I was googling around on this topic & came across this..
Code:

Does this work, anybody tried here?

Edit: I tried entering my number there in "MTNL DOLPHIN NUMBER" but got this error on the next page.. No shortcuts pl. !! Donno what it is.

Will try messaging 1909, is it "START 0" to 1909 or "START DND" to 1909 (without the quotes)

Edit 2:
Messaged them START 0 @ 1909.
A minute later got a message with some confirmation code, which I SMSed again to 1909.

A minute later got a message with a docket number confirming my preferences to 0

Two minute later got a message to download mtnl bollywood babes :001unsure:

I suppose it takes time to stop the advertising messages..

Edit 3:
Just came across this thread after many days, the ADs sms messages from MTNL have stopped by now.
