I think there was a notice by DOT or someone that minimum 512kbps will be defined as broadband.Issue is I am getting 256kbps after FUP. Shouldn't I get 512?

i guess minimum is 256 buddy nt 512.....

As per current norms anything above 256 kbps is broadband. This should be updated and strictly implemented to 1 mbps minimum.

Now: 256kbit/sMid-2012: 512kbit/s2015: 2mbit/s2020: 2mbit/s minimum with at least 100mbit/s on demand being available (which means no more ADSL, only VDSL2, DOCSIS3 cable, Metro Ethernet or Fibre).Reference: Pages 11 & 14 of NTP 2010 final document

1Mbps would be Enough for General Browsing (i.e)For Checking mails, Facebook and 360p youtube. what about 1080p Video streaming?

Haha 2 mbps by 2015 when the world would be having 1 Gbps as standard. lol

Wont make any difference. When 2 mbps becomes the standard, BB companies will simply stop calling it "broadband" and simply term it "high" speed internet.

This is India... what do you expect. The Telecom Policy 2011 which was suppose to be implemented in 2011 would now be implemented after Mid June 2012.

Rest assured you won't get 2Mbps in 2015. It would definitely be delayed more by another 1-2 years...

True... They now call 512kbps as high speed

I think 4mbps should be the standard........high hopes right? I wish India would just follow the Switzerland definitions 😛

We are talking about "MINIMUM".

Currently minimum speed is 256 kbps and I am getting 4 mbps (16 times).
