I had got my tatasky plus HD box a month ago. A week ago, it stopped functioning. The TS ppl took 3 days to replace my box. The box was ok for 2 days. Then again, some problem cropped up....Many channels including HD are not coming...it says ''no signal''. Now again TS ppl came and told that there is a problem in the Box and they will have to replace it. But there is no stock as of now, and its expected only by saturday. So, am deprived of TS+ HD for about a week....(taking into consideration their promise to replace it on saturday,failing which this figure can go up).......Worst exprience ever in my 5.5 yr journey with TS :bad:

Err. Not expected this from Tata Sky. I think they had recently launched some DOA policies and still such discrepancies. :pissed-off:

Here is something to think about. I also had a problem with my TS+ HD box. I've got a replacement box. But it's a company policy to provide refurbished set top boxes, not the brand new box packs. So all the replacement boxes Tata Sky provides are repaired boxes. They say that they have done all kind of tests on it and after that they are providing it. But still it's not a brand new box.And to my surprise, my replacement box was suffering with the same issue. My TS+ HD still works very slow for first 10 minutes in the morning when I am starting it for first time in a day. And yes they are having shortage of replacement boxes of Tata Sky+ HD. But if anyone wants to buy a new TS+ HD box, then they provide is right way within 24 hours. So they are actually running out of refurbished boxes.If customer has given around 4k money for this HD DVR box and unfortunately if the device is faulty then he/she is entitled to get a brand new device not the refurbished one.

Exactly. If I am paying 4k for a new DVR which becomes faulty in DOA , then I must be getting a brand new DVR . If I am not wrong this is what DOA Policy of various Mobile and Consumer Electronics. So how can there be a different DOA policy for DVRs.

Now, they say it will take 3-4 more days to replace my box.....I have escalated the issue to the nodal officer.....Isko laga dala, toh life ka bajaa daala!!

The Ts ppl replaced my box this morning........By afternoon, the box stopped working again......Yes, Same problem...... pulling my hair out

Same issue with SD Tata Sky+ as well, paid 10k to get it. freezing etc started from day 1, especially while using the record function & it took me a long time(i think about 8-10 months) before i could get a replacement because the issue was very intermittent, i had to record how the box freezes & even take photographs of the issue to prove that the problem existed. Otherwise the Tatasky engineer would just reset & format the STB & say the issue is resolved whenever they came over, like most of you know we first need to talk to & convince the Tata Sky Phone representative & then comes the service engineer - i did this several times & had to be very persistent to get the box replaced. The replacement box they provided was refurbished & had similar problems but by this time i had given up on Tatasky even discontinuing their service for quiet sometime but had to get back to them because i had 1 Tatasky+ SD along with 3 normal STB & buying same equipment from another provider would cost me a lot, but based on online review may still not provide any better service than Tata + local cable service is pathetic. Till date my secondary Tatasky+ SD has intermitent freezing etc issues but i now use HD+ for the living room - also freezes etc at times but a lot better than SD+ & issues normally gets fixed after a cold restart, i think this was happening on my old box also - hoping history does not repeat itself.

Has anyone else experience this red screen error on Tata Sky Plus SD box: "Video Alarm Detected. Service id 8. (021371)" - Screenshots below

@Hardik7 : The HD+ box does work slower than normal for the first 10 mins of boot, it's considered to be normal as per Tata etc, used to the case with my Tatasky SD as well, but this usually happens if it's a Cold restart(as in you turn of the main power to the STB & turn it back on), The Tatasky engineer back then had suggested me to just leave the STB on standby mode instead of turning Off from mains(as in use the turn off button on the remote but leave it connected to the wall socket & still switched ON) - in fact several Tatasky Engineer & Support Reps on phone had suggested this to prevent delayed startup's etc. Hope this helps

First of all I never do cold restart except in the cases where stb freezes and does not respond but that happens with all models of TS. I have been with Tata Sky from 2006. First I had a standard TS digicomp which I had used for two years then in 2008 I purchased TS+ then currently I have HD+ stb. In earlier two models, I never had to face any kind of problems except in the Rain Outage but that's common with all DTH across the world.

But this HD+ box started showing slow operation problem. Although it's a waste of electric charge, I always put HD+ box in the stand by mode. Never turn it off from the mains. Because that is the whole point of DVR which records the program automatically in stand by mode. According to me and this is just my guess but the problem with my HD+ box is because of slower operation of Hard Drives in the start. As we know '+' boxes continuously record in the buffer so in the start it takes a while to get the header of that 500 GB hard drive to warm up in like 10 minutes then it works normally. Or maybe because of low RAM or not enough cache.

Anyways...

As I mentioned earlier that I already got replacement of HD+ box but it was suffering with the same issue. But hey 8-10 months! Boy, that's a long time. I had to wait for a week until I got replacement & Rs. 49 credit was added to my account. And I never had to record or take photographs. I never even called TS Phone representative. I went straight to mytatasky.com & chatted with the representative and filed a complaint & next day engineer came & acknowledged the issue & got the replacement after a week. That's it.

By the way you never should call their damn telephone line for any sort of information or complaint because those numbers are not toll free. From BSNL land line if you call that 1860-425-6633 number then it costs you 90 paisa/minute. Instead of that go to mytatasky.com & chat with the representative. It's easy & free. And about replacements, even if my HD+ warranty expires TS will change the box because I'm their customer from 2006 so I come in premium customer category so they will replace my stb, remotes, dish free as long as I continue with the Tata Sky. So what my point is that you should have never discontinued because that brings you out of Premium Club.
