My sister got a Micromax 3G modem with a 2G sim. She uses Elementary OS (Ubuntu 10.10).

She asked me following questions

1.What plan to select?. and what is the APN?. [Karnataka]
2. What to put in number, username, password options?

Its very very urgent.

Any answers?. Please its very urgent....

I am using plan bsnlnet 2g/3g in punjab.username password should be blank

Was the modem detected correctly? Because you need usb-modeswitch package to get it working. I dont think it is installed in ubuntu by default. When you open the 'new mobile broadband connection' page, it should show the usb modem's name and not as 'any device'. Also, what is your micromax model number? Also, I would suggest you help your sister use wvdial(not installed in ubuntu by default) instead of network manager for dialing - it is more reliable. Give your model number and I might be able to search a wvdial script for you.

And also post a tutorial to connect this modem.

Micromax just sent me a Linux Suite, but that doesn't work. Its a connectivity suite made for Ubuntu 9.10.
