1. Shut down Chrome.
2. Go to Chrome's user profile directory (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\ for Windows 7).
3. Edit Local State file in the folder... Search for "last_known_google_url" and "last_prompted_google_url" fields and update them to .com.
4. Save the file and restart Chrome.

Chrome would then ask for a confirmation about the switch. Confirm it and profit!

it seems to work fine in firefox. try out in a browser with no scripts etc etc blocked.
