Is it possible that when the dynamic ip addresses keep changing on every connection, someone else who has connected to the internet at the same time could gat the same ip address as i do.If so will that not be the cause of link failure in my modem?.Since i keep getting link failures one after the other only after 7.00 am in the morning.

Check your modem log and post the short details, when the disconnection occurs and gets reconnected. How is the Power Supply ? Is it stable 220 V ~ or varies often.Even if you use an UPS, modem can get disconnected.

The power supply is stable , So i dont think there is any problem with itCould you please tell me,how i can get the adsl status of my modem log?,as i'm new to this and this is the first time i':urock:ve encountered such a problem.THANK YOU for your assistance.

assuming your line, modem, splitter, cables are working ,check your NIC power option configured and now test your connectivity by pinging any wan IP ,like ping yahoo.com -t and see the response.this will give your connection status from modem to wan and by using ping 192.168.1.1 -t , this will give you status for pc to modem.by this way you will know what is causing the problem.

this status was just after a reconnection following a disconnection

br_1_41 Diagnostics

Your modem is capable of testing your DSL connection. The individual tests are listed below. If a test displays a fail status, click "Rerun Diagnostic Tests" at the bottom of this page to make sure the fail status is consistent. If the test continues to fail, click "Help" and follow the troubleshooting procedures.

Test the connection to your local network Test your ENET(1-4) Connection: PASS
Test your Wireless Connection: PASS

Test the connection to your DSL service provider Test ADSL Synchronization: PASS
Test ATM OAM F5 segment ping: PASS
Test ATM OAM F5 end-to-end ping: F5 FAIL

here is a OAM F4 test result

sorry about the font size it was by accident. The space between the digits indicates that the first group of digits is for the upstream and the second group is for the downstream

The same problem was with me and I tried formatting my computer with winxp sp1,sp2 n sp3 but non of them worked.Lastly i gave a try for win Vista and Now my Connection is stable but I dont get a stable connection for winxp. What must be the problem?

If the error is due to some corrupt files in the XP CD, reinstalling may not help. Using a different CD may help. Anything will do, it can be home or professional. It can be installed as a dual boot with Vista. If it is running fine, Vista can remain as back up.

I have an xp for windows
the connection however is stable throughout the night and is instable in the morning and completely dead in the evening
although i dont remember experiencing these problems whn i had vista but i had to change to xp due to resolution problem. But do u think the unstability in the link is due to the windows ??

----------

HEllo
Even if it is because of the windows xp that the link is not stable, how does that explain the stable link throughout the night? i'm with xp then too after all?
Did u have stable link when u had xp?

----------

Is time a factor? or what time of day affects link?
