I have a folder of all my very important documents (i.e. ones I would really really not want to lose). Due to the recent demise of my external hard drive, I now am considering having the primary backup be a DVD-RW, and the secondary my creative zen xtra's hard drive. In fact ideally I would not want to have the whole folder be on the internal hard drive at all. So my thought is to have 3 copies - a DVD-RW, a DVD-R and the mp3 player.I have two DVD-Drives (one a combo drive, and the other a burner), so is there any software that would be able to synchronize the folder between the DVD-RW and the DVD-R? (I am assuming synchronizing with the mp3 folder would be not possible very easily).Or really, feel free to suggest some other way of backing up.

i dont have much idea about windows but u cud use rdiff-backup with linux and your mp3 player could prove to be the easiest of the lot, if it has a fat file system...

Well Windows Briefcase should do the job. But the folder will no longer be a folder but a briefcase 😀

The folder in question is atleast 1 Gig in size, and on top of that I don't really want to have my data on the internet, as they are personal files and such. I'm not trying to be paranoid, but I would rather have a solution other than online storage.I have XP Pro and AFAIK the briefcase thing doesn't exist in XP.. right?

from searching on the internet, it seems that windows xp does have the briefcase feature.. here are a couple of links that you would find useful

however it seems that the microsoft backup utility would be a better option
