Amazon actually sell some versions of kindle directly worldwide. look at that option first.

I've purchased inexpensive items from 20North twice (things from Amazon.com). Service is slightly pricier than similar providers, but reliable. Both purchases took around 20 days from order to delivery.Sometimes, they make bulk purchases from Amazon (for popular items) and warehouse them in India itself. If you buy such an item, you can get it in 3-5 days.

Well wouldn't want to deal with the courier and customs since I'm not in Mumbai at the moment. 20North looks to be bangalore based, hence easier to chase up.
