Oh great .. I was just looking for this one... but I am looking for Dual SIM.As per some news, they are going to launch DUAL SIM version in Asian market which I hope includes India. So I am assuming above mobile on sell is not really for India?!

google is in the process of acquiring motorola mobility. ANDit would run as an independent unit. ANDa lot of android devices comes with google branding. this one actually is an old model and was launched before the acquisition was announced.

This is not old model its a new one, this was announced in August 2011 just abt week before Google announcement.

Here is quote from my HSDPA thread, its also called as Motorola XT531
Anybody aware of this phone?

Motorola XT531 full specs

It seems its still not launched, except in China. Its not clear if its launched in USA.

I am waiting for this for 3 reasons:
1) Satisfies all my requirements.
2) Seems to be cheap
3) Motorola now has Google backing so company wont backout in future.

Motorola XT531 is official for Europe, Latin America and Asia

Can anyone confirm if this mobile will support browsing internet ON PC/laptop via HSDPA?i.e. can i use it as internet modem?

androids have wired and wireless tethering support since android 2.2. as long as this phone is unlocked it should support what you are seeking!

Yes I read that andriod 2.2 and later supports tethering but u never know if operators block it in cheap mobiles just to make sure their high end mobile are also sold.Plus I looked on phonearena ... it does not say YES or even NO for tethering support.

😕 operators cannot block tethering on your phone if you purchased an unlocked model from the retail market.at best they can monitor their usage and decide if your are tethering your connection or not. and i do not think any indian mobile operator is currently doing that. indian market does not have 3G mobile plans that specifically block tethering like in the USA (AT&T).

I hope by the time they launch Dual SIM version, someone else purchases single SIM version and confirms 😀

I am not talking abt operators.. I am talking abt Motorola, they might block it

Something similar to what Nokia did in their mobiles in N-series ..they blocked internet on mobile via PC. (a reverse thing). Some guy later on developed a crack called gnubox.

Sameway, motorola may block a feature or two just to make sure their higher priced mobile also sell.

Another question, will I be able to update android? Say if Android 2.4 if it launches? Or will I have to depend on motorola to release it?

I feel like contacting Motorola for inquiring. Why isnt model still displayed on their website. Its strange.
