Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan bows out - The Washington Post

Japan's Naoto Kan has announced that he's quitting, amid a perceived lack of leadership over the tsunami disaster. He's resigned as ruling party chief, and will leave the prime minister's office once the DPJ picks a replacement. (Aug. 26)

there was an interesting tweet somewhere.

it stated something like this. manmohan stayed quiet about the whole issue because he knew that his speaking on it did not make any difference. he knows that his party does not listen to his point of view so speaking about it was not really going to change anything :p

and he probably knew that the agitation for the JLP was unavoidable and he let it happen on its own. so practically speaking... he got what he probably supported (quietly) in the end.

it is hard to say what he personally feels about JLP though.

----------

still no excuse for his behavior during the entire 2G/CWG/JLP fiasco.

he should have resigned if he feels that he is powerless as the prime minister of the country.
