Hope HP launches this product as soon as possible in India, Am planning to buy a tablet PC in coming months.

HP's expectations for its new TouchPad tablet are running pretty high -- so high, in fact, that they can only be expressed with a make-believe number. During a recent press conference in Cannes, HP's Eric Cador boldly declared that his company's new slate won't just be the best on the market, it'll be the bestest. Cador explained:

"In the PC world, with fewer ways of differentiating HP's products from our competitors, we became number one; in the tablet world we're going to become better than number one. We call it number OnePlus."

HP thinks the TouchPad will be 'better than number one,' if that's even possible -- Engadget

Interesting to see how re-entry of webOs affect the mass growing tablet market ..

Apple has been saving the cash for a major acquisition. sources say that one day they would buy one of the mobile service providers in the US market. they can easily buy someone like Sprint with the resources they have today.

ahem. bulk of Apple revenues today comes from their mobile division. and they are very much dependent upon AT&T and Verizon for the same in their primary market USA.

and all of these operators are killing unlimited mobile internet plans which makes it tough for Apple to innovate.

apple could someday acquire one of the mobile service provider... and provide a totally controlled user experience to owners of iPad and iPhone.

i mean apple is expected to launch icloud service in the near future. this would be a music streaming service. verizon is going to soon discontinue their unlimited mobile broadband plans.

how are you going to make use of iTunes streaming service if you do not have an unlimited mobile internet package?

mobile carriers are hurting the advancement of mobile services. netflix is another company that is massively affected by these restricted internet plans.

but sprint do not have huge user base like AT&T or verizon .. so if they opt for sprint they will loose the user base of AT&T & Verizon and need to compete on the basis of network ... to over come this they can introduce data service like reliance LTE where they can target user on the basis of wifi connectivity the other things they lack is processor they do design the same but need to get it manufactured from 3rd party like samsung so it become quite expensive

look at it this way. Apple likes to control everything about their own products and services. they are developing their own customized mobile chips based on the ARM platform... the only thing they do not control right now is the carrier. and they would love to have more control over that aspect. the next iPhone would be a global phone. it would support both GSM and CDMA service providers. in a couple of years, Apple should easily be able to buy one of the smaller players with extensive network around the US market. and eventually make it an exclusive seller of iPhone. sprint might be a small player but in the end, network coverage matters. numbers would come automatically when they would have the apple's own branding. of course, it is just a rumor. but it is a very good rumor. apple is already working on their own mapping platform that would enable them to replace google maps on the iPhone. they are also working on their own voice recognition service based on technologies licensed from Nuance for their voice search and other features. they are working hard on removing the dependency upon google.as for manufacturing. apple does not manufacture ANYTHING. everything is outsourced. they own the technical expertise and the intellectual property. retina display, a4/a5 processors are just some examples. even though LG (or sharp or samsung) manufacture the retina displays for them, they can only be used by Apple products. that's what IP is all about. you do not really have to get into the dirty business of manufacturing shit when there are chinese and korean companies ready to do it for you.

this does make sense .. but considering the amount of money need to be invest can they get same rate of return they are now getting from current product like iPhone and iPad .. by investing on some network carrier they get ready made structure but then need to invest a lot to compete with top contestant .. and if they make this exclusive this will definitely affect there sales as can user go for sprint just for Apple .. last time we saw AT&T done good sales of iphone but they are not able to attract many verizon's existing customer as they prefer good network over iPhone ...so there is lot of risk involved in this deal .. and not sure if apple is in position to take such risk now .. if jobs declare him self healthy and will continue with company for atlest 5 years then this is possible as they can't take all risk at same time ...

looking at the long term picture... Apple needs to have more control over mobile internet services. apple iPhone, apple ipad, apple tv... all of these devices are too much dependent upon internet services. sprint is the only major service provider in the country with FUP free mobile internet plans in USA today... Verizon is going to soon discontinue theirs. streaming music and movie services are not going to survive if users are stuck with 10GB/20GB mobile internet plans. this is something that affects both apple and google as they are betting big on the cloud... i definitely see one of these players get into the ISP market in the coming years.

due to cloud technology everything is depend upon internet so they need some way to control the internet instead of too much dependent on third party ..

about google i guess they are already in this business Google launching 1Gbps ISP service to select markets at 'competitive prices' -- Engadget

and Apple need to take steps soon before its too late ... its ingesting too see how they plans use of pile of case .. i guess 10-20 % of the same is used to buy some software/gaming companies on mobile technology
