Microsoft announced today that it has disabled a tracking code used on its websites that apparently could track users as part of a "supercookie" tracking scheme. Supercookies are present even after the user deletes the cookies from their browser.

Apparently, MSN.com, Microsoft.com, and Hulu.com were identified by Stanford researchers as sites that had this super-cookie. It appears that Time Warner's Flixter.com social networking service and Charter's portal uses the same super-cookie code.

Super cookies are common nowadays as part of a larger 'understand the user' initiative. Most users just click through these agreements.

i wish browser makers fix this glitch so that these supercookies are rendered ineffective. too bad both microsoft and google have good reasons not to work on it. mozilla? maybe.

supercookies have existed for a long time. there are other terms used by security experts for the same. i guess google does not rely one it as they are already heavily used by pretty much everyone on the web and they probably have no need for it :p

and there a was time i had to beg to mum for extra cookies :confused:these are kind of flash cookies i guess ? they can be removed too but the big ? why are they there in 1st place. couple of days ago a court in states has already passed that using of flash cookies is not a privacy invasion !! anyway the answer is simple run the browser form sandboxiee no cookies, no other shit gets saved on system.
