@hitman. . Its because of those oldies that the previous two test got stretched to four days. If they wouldn't have performed the margin of loss would have been much higher & the tests would have ended up in 3 days. What have the youngsters done ? When did you saw dhoni/yuvraj etc. performing in a test match. Keeping sreesanth at point is logical. Catches are dropped in matches. Even if they would have taken those 4 catches(which you saw on those news channels) wouldn't have made much difference. England lead by a healthy lead & they are on the verge of winning another test match.

I know some ppl that like test matches and intls but they absolutely hate Indian Premier League. Why ? you like cricket now you can watch more. no they say.

I am 1 of them. I love CRICKET, so i hate IPL.

@ Moin.....
This topic is 1 kind of fight that used to take place at that Community on Orkut.

@ Topic.....

Well the guys are either badly out of form, or they r silently protesting against something done BCCI, which hasnt gone down well with the team. They cant protest openly, so, may be in this way to raise suspicion amongst public.

The oldies r needed. Sachin, RD & Lax have a minimum of 1-2 years of cricket left in them. These "oldies" only prove to be the mentors for the younger generation.

A Raina, or Pujara, or Mukund or Kohli sharing the dressing room with this Trio, and also watching them play, can help them in shape their games. The young generation is IPL generation. they totally lack temperament to play long lasting innings, that too, CONSISTENTLY. They can learn this only from the oldies.

These very oldies have played well in past tours, and going by their performance in SA, theres no reason why they cant perform in England. SA is way tougher than England. Their bowlers too r far better than a Broad or Anderson or Bresnan.
About our ability take 20 wickets.......if u can get Kallis & Amla out, these Cooks & Pietersens & Bells are nonsense in front of them.

So, the problem isnt with their age. The problem is something else. Even the youngsters arent performing. It looks like a "Collective effort" to perform badly.

Guys lets us forget about England Test Series....We know that England are coming for a series in India later this year.. i am confident we will definitely beat england in our home series as we are lions and tigers at home....people like yuvraj, raina or new new member will perform in home series against england....

I am very much worried about the forthcoming Australia Series...this is the best oppurtuity for India clinch a series win against Australia in Test SEries....the selectors needs to focus more onto that tour on having the right players for that tour....

Very soon Champions league is also going to start....

@Jaymin

I feel that all the 3 RD, ST & VVS have got 1 or 2 Years of Cricket LEft.....what i could recommend is that nurturing a young 1 at a time....the slot no 5 or no 6 is still open which should be nurtured...once a guy cements his place....then 1 among the 3 should retire...then nurture the 2nd one for no-3 or no-4 position....by this transition process we can get better players at test match level in next 3 years for india......In this transition process i am sure sachin will be the last person to retire....

I want to see young bloods to perform....even if they are failing give them a confidence for 4 -5 test matches...

Oh Come On bro, Its not a Nursery, its a Graduation for Young Players and Graduation in earning Money. Bcoz of this IPL, Players now have to bribe selection board for Ranji's . And Once they are selected, IPL owners are sitting there to bid on them.

IPL had spoiled the defination and maligned the sports spirit of Cricket.
Yeah, this is pretty much what i hear 🙁

Is there anything you think IPL can do to rectify this situation ?

One bad series/tour doesn't mean all is not well. What is the guarantee that England can hold No. 1 rank like Aus holds fo more than 2 years. Not defending BCCI and Team Management for their lack of courage for this imp tour.
New ones didn't perform at all.

We have already discussed abt this earlier. Till Corrupt Politicians like Sharad Pawar are there in Sports, it will no more be a sports but another political ground and money making Industry.

Thats exactly how i also feel. Thats what Cricket communities too discuss. And in every season u have few youngsters coming in. Raina is around since long. Mukund too has got few opportunities here.

The problem with youngsters is that they get injured. Yuvi cud have had chances, but he is out due to injury. Pujara.....he impressed us in series against Aus last October. But when an opportunity came for him against WI, he was injured.

@ blr_p

If IPL wants to stay on its mission, then BCCI shudnt force Main team players to play in it. In fact, they must have rules to dissuade participation from the main team players. We can get raw talent from it, which can be polished out at international levels.

But, until IPL is around, the main team guys will play. And due to that, the National performances are deteriorating.

So for now, my only slogan is - BAN IPL.

New ones didn't perform at all.

Exactly! What is Raina, Mukund, Ishant, Sreeshant Praveen Kumar doing?
If oldies are not performing, new ones are also just participating...

Actually whole team is in bad form, or may be still in World cup hangover mood.
BTW did you know 1983 World cup winning team also got complete white wash from West Indies same year - West Indies in India : Oct/Dec 1983 (6 TESTS)

Bad series is different diastrous series is different.....Even if the bangaldesh team played the same england probably their defeat margin would have been equal to india or would have under performed less than India....

Just getting Test Ranking No -1 does not mean that England are the best team in the world.....at this juncture England, SA, Australia looks a good team...

I guess SL team performed better than Indian Team against England...

----------

I think we should not consider Yuvraj Singh as a future for Indian Test Team.. LEt him be a specialist for ODI and T20....

I want to see the guys like Kohli, Pujara, Mukund, Saha to get oppurtunities as early as possible and perform for India...

Oh I forgot about Badrinath...

I think praveen kumar is the only bowler who is performing well in this series as bowler and also did well in WI tour too...

He took 12 Wkts in WI tour and took 15 Wkts on the ongoing Eng Series....

England arent that good to be no.1. Even if they do become, they wont hold it much long. They dont have the resources to play against a full strength team, which is in Form. Its just that our players are GROSSLY UNDER-PERFORMING, which has given them this chance to make it there.U dont see VVS repeating a mistake in a particular series, leave aside repeating a mistake thrice. U dont see Sachin amongst these type of scores for long periods.

Quote from Cricinfo: "To sum up what is happening with India in this series : They are being 'cook'ed, 'strauss'matized, 'bell'ed (as in cat), dis"m"organized, 'kevin'ced, 'bopara'lyzed, de-prioritized, 'broad'sided, 'swann'kered, an"derided"son, 'bresnan'hilated and de-flowered."

I think England is playing smart with Praveen Kumar, I noticed they play him with Runrate of less than 2 when he is swinging the ball.I was expecting P Kumar to be key bowler but he has swing but no experience in tests. And he does not even have any senior bowler who can teach him how to bowl when opponents are being careful with his bowling.

Its probably the first time that i have stopped watching India's match, despite having the channel subscribed.
