The 2011 England Riots are ongoing events across the United Kingdom, mainly England. Widespread public disturbances, including looting, arson attacks, burglary, robbery and some rioting, are ongoing in some cities and towns in England. The rioting began on 6 August 2011 in Tottenham, North London; other riots then occurred elsewhere in London and in some other areas of England. The events followed the fatal shooting of a 29-year-old man, Mark Duggan, by officers of the Metropolitan Police Service.
A march by about 200 people in Tottenham became violent and descended into rioting. In the following days, disturbances occurred in other areas of the city, including Wood Green, Enfield Town, Ponders End and Brixton. Vandalism, arson, looting and violent disorder were also reported in several boroughs of London, extending as far south as Croydon. At least 111 police officers were injured. On 8 August 2011, rioting and looting occurred in Birmingham, Liverpool, Nottingham, Bristol and Medway. More than 1,100 people have been arrested since the start of the disruption, and the Metropolitan Police have been authorised to use baton rounds and water cannon against rioters if deemed necessary.
In response to the incidents, the Prime Minister David Cameron, the Home Secretary Theresa May, the Mayor of London Boris Johnson and Leader of the Opposition Ed Miliband cut short their holidays to return to London. It was announced that Parliament would be recalled on 11 August to debate the situation, and an extra edition of BBC Question Time would take place later that day, to discuss the riots.
well... the general belief is that the riots are a result of people going nuts over nothing. a couple of tweets even stated that these idiots are burning down the pubs where they meet and drink. they are destroying their own neighborhood. they are hurting themselves the most.
Sikhs in UK are carrying all sought of weapons to protect Gurudwara's. They fear that even they might also be looted. On an another note, If this would have happened in India and if Eng was playing here. They would have packed there bags and gone back home.
These riots are not about race, they're not about the death of Mark Duggan (aka Starrish Mark), they're the lower-class scum bags taking advantage of a terrible incident. I should make it clear, not all lower-class families are scum, there are some rather unfortunate people on the lower side of the margin, it is not these people I am calling scum; It is the benefit scroungers, the typical council house family that doesn't work, sells drugs, buys drugs and has 5-6 children and uses the benefits from those children as income.
Here's how this shit goes:
On Thursday 4th August, Mark Duggan is carrying an illegal firearm. Yes, an illegal firearm. He's a drug dealer. The police shoot him. (don't scream "but he didn't shoot first," the fact he had a firearm, and sold drugs is enough to suspect that he may have used it in the past; or may have if a deal went wrong etc.)
On Saturday 6th of August, his family, go and peacefully protest outside of the local police station, as, understandably, they're grieving, and angry that the police opened fire on him. Then, and this is the important bit. Taking advantage of this, his gangster buddies (yes, he was a "gangster". Star Gang, BFP, Tottenham Mandem) decide to seek revenge, so they cause mayhem. Police do nothing about it at first, this spurs further outbreaks of violence and rioting because the lack of police gave these people a false sense of security to the point where it got out of control. Cars on fire, shops on fire etc.
Please, stop making excuses for these people. They are not a majority black; it's not a race issue, they are not rioting for anything in particular, It's a large number of uneducated, poor, chavvy low-lifes using the death of a man in order to justify what they're doing.
To those who say "they're rightous in doing it, they're part of the lowest part of the divide etc.," wake the **** up. The shops they are burning are independantly owned stores for the most part, they're ruining peoples lives. They're burning peoples homes and cars, there is no legitimate reason for these actions. Reeves furniture store was burned down, this was not owned by the government, but by an elderly man who inherited it from a long line of fathers before him; he was simply making a living, he now has nothing.
You are making excuses for people who sell drugs, rob shit, and set fire to places; Why? What they're doing isn't heroic, it isn't just, it's pathetic, mindless violence.
