Media Players are plenty..but the best ones are quite few..avi and other major video formats need klite codecs+ media player classic to run them.Another option which is simplier as it requires no codecs is the usage of a certain player called vlc player . Use google to find it if interested..

BS Player + VLC + Real Alternative. There is nothing that combination cannot handle.BSPlayer = plays mostly everything + loads of features and easy keyboard controls.VLC = baap of all players, plays even incomplete files and .mov files unlike BSPlayer. Only drawback is lack of playback features like BSPlayer has.Real Alternative = for real media files.

Thought the main thing that was intreresting about BSPlayer was that it could handle subtitles (if provided) better, ie most useful to ppl whose native tongue is diff to what is been shown.

VLC player is really all you need if the above does not apply. It also does subtitles too.

Mind you the title is for media player, the above are for video media. For audio media, there are many choices, FB2K, winamp etc.

But i prefer to use a media manager.
