Sushubh, i know you've been in this for ages. So beg pardon if i sound a trifle impertinent. I get around the tab thing in gmail by using the tab option in the firefox browser. I have tried reading one mail and writing another in the firefox tabs, but yet to try writing two mails in tandem.
IMHO the vertical scrollbar in yahoo mail beta for the mails (say in the inbox) is a real pain. When you scroll down, the fresh headers have to brought in from the mail server i guess. If the line is a little slow, it is very easy to get lost while navigating through the list of mails. In that sense the page by page refresh was better.
otherwise the interface is like a familiar email-client interface and looks a lot more beautiful than the usual webmail interface.
It took me a little while getting used to the "conversation-style" organisation in gmail. Because i am familiar with the pc style of organising stuff into folders, this is a little confusing. More so because some mails get duplicated in the inbox and in the sent items in gmail.
