send a bitterly complaining email to your own exchange helpdesk similar to marol.helpdesk@mtnl.net.in for my exchange. When I did that they sent me a list of 3 phone numbers. Those turned out to be invaluable in resolving the problem.

You seem to have a line problem. Since you have made many complaints & they have not sorted it out, write to the GM (Broadband) with a cc to the ED giving the details plus all the complaint no's you have so far. You will find the email-ids in the wiki

I sent a well outlined email to several MTNL email addresses that I found in the Wiki. A bunch of them just bounced back.

Maybe I'll try the same as yours.. for my area. I am hoping its andheri.helpdesk...

The phone numbers they sent to you..? Who were these people.. as in what designation etc? I'll target specifics.

UPDATES WITH REGARD TO WHAT HAPPENED IN LAST FEW DAYS:

1.
Mention your modem/model/make/number.
2.
Try GDMT as mod mode. recheck snr attn d/l
3.
Ensure ALL phones connected ONLY to ADSL splitter Phone port.
4.
Check contacts for rusting/blackening/etc.
5.
Use new short cables for Rj11,

feedback.

Wonder if I need a Firmware change / update?

2. How do I invoke and maintain this GMDT Mode?

SNR - Crappy.. 6/8/10/11.. After escalating it with major departments they did a bunch of line cleaning and for one evening ...the SNR was 30..

But then the other MTNL telephone line (we have 2 lines..) went down. I did not know, mom complained and they came and fixed it that line.
And somewhere after my temporary euphoric evening of SNR=30.. It was down to 10/11 again as of today.

3. Yes. The incoming wire into the house is first attached to the splitter. Then one goes into Modem, the other goes into EPABX.

The Modem then connects to a 24 port Gigabit Managed Switch that is wired to LAN for every room in the flat. (I know Geeky.. But i've never looked at WiFi as high performance & reliable when it comes to CONCRETE in Bombay.. V/s when I was in the US where apartments are mostly wood).

4. The MTNL guys came and finally did a bunch of CARBON CLEANING. Downstairs at building box, another place where theres a box away from Building. After this I had good SNR for one evening.

5. New short cables for RJ11....?? Elaborate.. on what you mean.
Note: These cables have been untouched and working fine for a long time.

Has a Engineer ever come over and replaced your router with a test Router ?
Call 1504 and ask for the Tel No of your Exchange DGM ..the operator will give it to you

Did I mention I sent a 100 page document logging Critical DSL Modem Error Logs from my Modem to the MTNL Emails..?

Ok. What can I do / tell them to bring one of these SPECIAL.. TEST ROUTERS.. ? Or is this just another replacement router to see if it does better?

What batteries for the Routers are you talking about? They are plugged into Ac to DC Power adapters... Which has been working fine for ages.. 🙂

UPDATE.... with more detailed info:

SNR at a high for a short bit.. maybe that afternoon / evening only.

No thoughts about the errors?
What IDs are you talking about? .. and where would I find them?
