I want to be able to compress a voice clip (either mp3 or wav) such that I can send a small size by email - and it can be decompressed at the other end...can anyone suggest what will be best? Thanks!🙂

You can use "TrueSpeech" codec. It takes about 1 Kb to store 1 second of voice. This codec will not store complete "sound", it is designed specifically to transmit Human voice and might corrupt music sounds. This codec might not be available on Linux/BSD.

interesting...thx for telling about it. I only need it to send compressed voice mails across computers on windows...so I'll try it out 🙂
