MUMBAI: In a bid to ensure that essential services like telecommunication do not break down during natural calamities, the Department of
Telecommunication (DoT) has brought out a draft policy on mobile towers and has asked cellular service providers to adhere to certain norms while constructing new towers. Saying that the towers would have to be earthquake resistant, DoT has specified that the design, fabrication and use of material should conform to the standards set by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

right. people can live in houses that would fall down on a slight ground disturbance but the mobile towers should stand straight up. funny enough. who enforces the regulations related quake proof buildings and houses?

And i thought here in mumbai, towers, i see them on top of residential buildings. So how are they going to convert already built building into quake proof one?

Well then there is no need to pass such rule, everything is quake proof till it quakes :D
